Apart from the animal itself no dinosaur-related image is more common in the commercial world than that of THE EYE. Not teeth, not horns, not claws. The reason for this is something of a mystery to this author. Perhaps it's the reptilian pupil that dominates these images or the scaly lids and surrounds that speaks of something implacable and alien. Or maybe it's just a complete lack of imagination. Whatever the reason one can only hope advertising agencies, production designers and graphic artists move on from what has become an overused and cliched image. |
