Introduction

Cyborg Samurai Dinosaur CowboyDinosaurs + The American West is, according to TV Tropes and Idioms, a good example of the Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot trope, "where something is cool because it is either a combination of two cool things or taking something mundane and combining it with something either odd or cool or equally as mundane, and ending up with something with a coolness that exceeds the sum of its parts."

Often enough, this combination is physically impossible or contradictory, like the title of this page. Fortunately, if done right, nobody cares (as it should with Rule of Cool). In other cases, the combination is somewhat classic, for example with Skeleton Pirates, whose appearance matches the skull-and-crossbones of their flags. So apparently, given its commonness in popular culture, is the Wild West-Cowboy-Native American-Dinosaur mashup. Just goes to show; everything's better with dinosaurs.

The Monster of Lake LaMetrieIn an obscure oddity entitled "The Monster of Lake Lametrie" by Wardon Allan Curtis, published in 1899, a man's brain is transplanted into the skull of a surviving Elasmosaurus living in a remote mountain lake in Wyoming.

However the human brain lodged in the elasmosaur steadily degenerates. In the conclusion the elasmosaur is killed by U.S. infantrymen who are shocked at the sight of an insanely laughing monster.

Alternate History

The Year the Cloud Fell

Fallen Cloud Saga

The year is 1886. The United States has been in a state of undeclared war with the Cheyenne Alliance for decades. Custer’s son was last seen in a newfangled flying machine. And dinosaurs wander the plains. This is not history. This is the American West as it might have been…

The Year the Cloud Fell The Year the Cloud Fell The Year the Cloud Fell The Year the Cloud Fell

In Giambastini's alternate history, a change in natural history underpins a major change in the political history of North America. Certain species of dinosaurs, including ornithomimid runners and tyrannosaurs have survived to the present era on the North American prairies. Domesticated by the tribes of the Great Plains, these beasts give the Native Americans decisive military advantages over U.S. forces in speed and destructive power.

Fallen Cloud Saga

Professor Cline’s Dinosaur Kingdom

"Professor Cline’s Dinosaur Kingdom," at Natural Bridge, Virginia imagines a lost chapter from Civil War history. In 1863 America, the Civil War raged. Few knew a valley of dinosaurs had been discovered by Yankee troops, determined to use the beasts as weapons of mass destruction against the South. This theme park depicts how the plan backfired.
